Immobilization of maltogenic amylase in alginate-chitosan beads for improved enzyme retention and stability

Maltogenic amylase (Mag1) is a potent enzyme that hydrolyzes the glycosidic bond of polysaccharides to produce malto-oligosaccharides (MOS). However, Mag1 has poor stability and reusability, leading inefficient MOS production. Enzyme immobilization promising method solve problem. Entrapment encapsulation technique was used in this study immobilize because high biocompatibility prevention degradation, hence lesser loss enzymatic activity. Chitosan as coating membrane on alginate matrix, preventing leaching from beads. entrapped alginate-chitosan beads showed better performance compared terms thermostability, reusability retention. Alginate-chitosan improvement temperature approximately 35%, 30% 20% at respective 30 °C, 40 °C 50 °C. Reusability analysis immobilized can be up least eight cycles with retained activity 80% 70% its initial for respectively. leakage percentage 7-21%, while 12-35%. The overall findings envisage application biocatalyst synthesis.
